Microsoft unveils Windows 365, a web-streamed virtual desktop service

Microsoft on Wednesday unveiled its new cloud-based Windows 365 service, a simplified virtual desktop solution aimed at meeting hybrid workforce computing needs while creating opportunities for managed services providers and other cloud partners. Windows 365 is a “cloud PC” solution because the virtualized operating system and apps can be streamed in any web browser, and will be available on any PC or mobile device, Microsoft said. Windows 365 takes the PC OS to the cloud in August

Windows 365 is a new cloud-based OS that will stream Windows to phones, tablets and even Macs. Available to businesses from 2 August, the service basically works in the same way that Xbox Cloud Game Gaming does if you have a strong, stable internet connection, you’ll be able to stream the OS. “The ability to work whenever, however, and wherever it’s needed has become the new normal,” Microsoft’s Wangui McKelvey wrote in a blog post. “All employees want technology that is familiar, easy to use, and available across devices. And in the most complex cybersecurity environment we’ve ever seen, businesses need a solution that helps their employees collaborate, share, and create while also keeping their data safe and secure.”
