Albemarle County Public Schools moving to stage 3 on Feb. 1 Albemarle County Public Schools (Source: WVIR) By NBC29 Newsroom | January 27, 2021 at 6:01 PM EST - Updated January 27 at 6:28 PM
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Albemarle County Public Schools is moving back to stage three on Monday, February 1, meaning some students will return to the classroom for in-person learning.
In a letter sent to families Wednesday Jan. 27, Superintendent Matt Haas says the decision was based on more than two weeks of encouraging coronavirus trend data and discussions with the Blue Ridge Health District.
Haas’ letter said Stage 3 provides in-person access to certain students in Grades 4-12 and offers a hybrid learning option, including two days per week of face-to-face instruction, for all students in Grades PK-3.
It’s budget time.
Just about every meeting from the first of the year until it’s finalized is filled with budget considerations: health care, staff pay, bonuses, spending priorities and district-wide needs.
This year the Fluvanna County School Board has an additional task: searching for a new superintendent. Current Superintendent Chuck Winkler will retire in June.
The Board would like to hire his replacement as soon as possible.
At Wednesday’s (Jan. 20) seminar, besides budget priorities, they discussed what they were looking for in the next superintendent.
Chair Perrie Johnson (Fork Union) said 550 people responded to a survey on superintendent qualifications.
As more people begin to get their first dose of security against the coronavirus, there are still many wondering when you should and should not get the COVID-19 vaccine, but one UVA Health doctor clears up some of your lingering questions.
