BRHD to resume Johnson & Johnson vaccinations next week

BRHD to resume Johnson & Johnson vaccinations next week Photo: WINA CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – The Blue Ridge Health District expects to resume administering the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine next week. The single-dose vaccine has not been administered in our health district since April 12… the day before the FDA and CDC recommended a pause in the vaccine’s administration and Virginia immediately complied. Although the pause ended April 23, the J&J vaccine still has not been resumed here yet. BRHD will again be offering it as well as the Pfizer and Moderna formulas… both of which are two-dose vaccines. The FDA in lifting the pause determined the available data shows the J&J’s known and potential benefits outweigh its known and potential risks in individual age 18-and-over.
