Blue Ridge Humane Society marks one year of free pet food giveaways this month.
Community Outreach staff will host two giveaways this month as well as provide food and support for the Interfaith Assistance Ministry’s Drive-Thru Tuesdays on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
The first pet food giveaway of the month will take place on Monday, May 10 from 3-5:30 p.m. at the BRHS Adoption Center at 88 Centipede Lane in Hendersonville.
Pet owners who need pet food are invited to the following drive-thru giveaways:

Pop-up card shop to benefit Blue Ridge Humane Society

Cards for HVL Causes will host a special greeting card pop-up at the Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store on Saturday, April 24 from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Proceeds from cards sold that day are donated directly to Blue Ridge Humane Society to provide funding for BRHS programs. Cards for HVL Causes are unique and thoughtful handmade greeting cards covering a wide range of occasions from holidays, thank you, love and friendship, thinking of you, birthday, sympathy, and more, according to a news release from BRHS.
In addition, the limited edition BRHS Mother’s Day cards will be available for purchase to honor the mothers and the people who show mom-like love.

Hundreds of baby kittens are soon expected and the Blue Ridge Humane Society staff are getting ready with a Kitten Shower to gather items needed to care for the most vulnerable.
The Kitten Shower will be March 21-27 and feature donation drop-off locations around Henderson County. Individuals can purchase items from the BRHS Kitten Registry at local pet supply stores or online. Items include vital supplies like kitten formula and food, kitten warmers, bottles, and supplements that give foster kittens a boost to grow into healthy adults, according to a news release from BRHS.

Free cat and dog food giveaways will be offered by Blue Ridge Humane Society throughout the month of March.
Blue Ridge Humane Community Outreach staff will host two giveaways this month as well as provide food and support for the Interfaith Assistance Ministry’s Drive-Thru Tuesdays on the fourth Tuesday of the month, according to a news release. The first giveaway will take place on Monday, March 8, at the new time of 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the BRHS Adoption Center located at 88 Centipede Lane in Hendersonville.
“We want to make our drive-up food giveaways as accessible as possible with a new time frame,” shares Megan Burnett, Community Outreach Manager. “We hope that if you need food for your pet that you’ll come see us!”
Blue Ridge Humane recent target of catalytic converter thefts
Catalytic converter thefts continue to be reported throughout Henderson County, and a nonprofit is one of the latest victims.
Blue Ridge Humane Society reports that the catalytic converters were stolen off their vans this week and asks the public for donations to help cover the costs.
“On Wednesday night the catalytic converters were stolen from our vans parked outside the Adoption Center as homeless animals slept inside,” BRHS posted on Facebook Thursday night. “Spay/neuter services, vet visits, and transporting animals from county shelters all depend on transportation and we now have vans we cannot use.”
