South Korea to replace Kang Kyung-wha, the nation’s first woman foreign minister After three and a half years, Kang is stepping down and will be replaced by Chung Eui-yong SHARE Image: The Official CTBTO Photostream, CC BY 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons After witnessing the revival of inter-Korean diplomacy, South Korean foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha will step down from her position and pass the torch to a former security official, the presidential Blue House announced on Wednesday.  Chung Eui-yong, former director of the Blue House National Security Office, is set to take over Kang’s role once he is confirmed for the position. South Korean law dictates that the confirmation of a nominee must happen within 20 days of the president making the appointment.
