Alabama launches a new campaign to prevent veteran suicide

By MIKE CASON | al.com | Published: May 14, 2021 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Tribune News Service) Gov. Kay Ivey and other state officials have announced a new campaign to prevent suicide by veterans, who statistics show are more at risk for suicide than non-veterans. The legislation passed overwhelmingly out of the Alabama Senate in early March, but remains stalled on the House floor and there is only one more day for lawmakers to act. The Legislature’s final session in which members of the legislative branch can advance bills to Gov. Kay Ivey’s desk is May 17.
