NBC cancels 2022 Golden Globes after outcry against lack of diversity
U.S. television network NBC said on Monday it will not air Hollywood s Golden Globes ceremony in 2022 following complaints about ethical lapses and lack of diversity among the group that hands out the annual awards for film and television.

CNN’s struggling media program Reliable Sources with Brian Stelter hit another low on Sunday with its smallest audience of 2021 as the liberal program has now failed to crack the one-million viewer plateau for five consecutive weeks.
Stelter’s program averaged only 810,000 total viewers and a dismal 163,000 among the key demographic of adults age 25-54 on May 2, for its worst performance of the year in both categories.
To make matters worse for Stelter, his own show performed better last week when replacement host John Avlon filled in. The Avlon-hosted edition of Reliable Sources on April 25 averaged 907,000 for nearly a 100,000-viewer increase over Stelter’s return.

Fox News Channel was the most-watched cable-news channel from April 26 through May 2, topping liberal networks CNN and MSNBC for the 11th straight week among both primetime and total day viewers as CNN’s New Day continues to drag down the liberal network despite multiple attempts to salvage the hapless morning show.
Fox News averaged 2.3 million primetime viewers to finish No. 1 in all of basic cable, even topping ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage. ESPN averaged 2.1 million viewers to finish second, while MSNBC averaged 1.6 million to finish third. Tucker Carlson Tonight averaged 2.9 million viewers to finish as the most-watched cable news program of the week.
The new channel lost a huge chunk of viewers, particularly among the key demographic of adults aged 25-54, since Trump left office in January following a brief spike in viewership after Election Day.
Koppel’s teasing remark turns out to be prophetic
In a National Press Club panel discussion back in 2018,
CNN anchor Ted Koppel pointed media executives admitted that Trump was good for ratings, as viewers on both sides of the aisle tuned in to see the round-the-clock drama.
CNN‘s Brian Stelter responded by asking, “That means what? If ratings are up, that means what?”
Koppel, a working journalist for over four decades, quickly answered. “The ratings are up, it means you can’t do without Donald Trump. You would be lost without Donald Trump,” Koppel said as Stelter shook his head in disagreement.
