Some 125 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are set to gain grants and training in online commerce through a joint investment of 500,000 U.S. dollars, the statement said. The funds will fuel an innovative six-month incubation and training initiative and small grants program to help SMEs move online, sell online, and, for some, sell to overseas customers through a new online marketplace being developed by the MoC, it said.

Instant Pot JOHNSTOWN – A Western Pennsylvania woman says she was severely burned by a defectively designed Instant Pot Programmable Electric Pressure Cooker two years ago, and has subsequently sued the device’s manufacturer. Susan Stayrook of North Cambria filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania on Dec. 7 versus Instant Brands, Inc., of Kanata, Ontario, Canada. Snapchat PITTSBURGH – According to two college students who faced threats to their safety through the social media app Snapchat, the popular tool was designed to protect perpetrators using it to harass innocent people. Bailey Ziencik and Kelly Ziencik of Westmoreland County and Pascale Wasson of Wellesley, Mass. filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Dec. 4 versus Snap, Inc., of Santa Monica, Calif. “On or about the late evening of Dec. 18, 2018, near midnight, plaintiff Bailey Ziencik, a consumer, was using the defendant product in a manner for which the defendant product was intended,” the suit says. “Then, Ziencik received an attempt to communicate via the defendant product from the perpetrator of subsequent threats. The perpetrator tried to induce Ziencik into communication by falsely claiming that they were prior acquaintances. Plaintiff Bailey Ziencik did not initiate communication with the perpetrator.”
