New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): The Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India has begun to implement the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for a period of 2 months May and June so that the poor and vulnerable beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA) do not suffer on account of non-availability of foodgrains during the resurgence of COVID-19 in the country.

New Delhi, May 4 : The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said on Tuesday that about 65 per cent more wheat has been procured during current Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) as compared to the corresponding period of last year, adding that over 299.16 LMT of wheat has been procured at MSP so far by the central procuring agencies, benefiting 29.46 lakh farmers.
Procurement of wheat in the ongoing RMS 2021-22 is continuing smoothly in the procuring states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar at MSP, as was done in the previous seasons, the ministry said.

JAMMU, May 4: Establishment of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will get delayed as the Government has received poor response to the notice inviting applications for the posts of Presidents within the specified time-frame.
Due to this, vital provision of the Consumer Protection Act passed by the Parliament in the year 2019 will remain unimplemented for the unspecified time-frame and consumers will remain deprived of a proper forum for redressal of their grievances.
