Govt to increase reliance on import for power, energy Gas exploration ignored Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday allocated Tk 27,484 crore for the Power Division and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division in the proposed budget for the financial year 2021-22 with plans to keep increasing the number of power plants and not exploring the country’s gas potentials. The allocation proposed is 4.5 per cent of the budget outlay of Tk 6.03 lakh crore and 12.1 per cent of the development budget fund. The Power Division and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division got 4.7 per cent, or Tk 26,757 crore of the total budget outlay for the current FY21.
