CAP: Re-evaluate lifestyle amidst the Covid-19 pandemic

23 Jun 2021 / 08:22 H. Pix for representational purpose only. PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have been asked to re-evaluate and change their lifestyle and eating habits if needed as the nation had one of the highest risk factors of developing complications from Covid-19. This is due to the high prevalence of non-communicable disease (NCD) such as diabetes, Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) president Mohideen Abdul Kader said today. The World Health Organisation had stated that patients with cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes and cancer are more vulnerable to becoming severely ill when they get Covid-19. “According to the Ministry of Health, Covid-19 patients with NCDs fare worse than others, with over 85% of those who died here having pre-existing conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure,” Mohideen said in a statement.
