OWLS HEAD A competitive grant award from Libraries Transforming Communities is being used to host a Zoom meeting for Owls Head residents and other interested parties to provide information on the Knox County Airport: its master plan, the roles of the various stakeholders, a summary of Owls Head’s Comprehensive Plan and a review of the current expiring interlocal agreement and the proposed new 20-year agreement which will be voted on in mid-April by Owls Head residents.
Invited to speak in a highly structured format at the meeting are all identified stakeholders: the FAA, the regional airport advisory committee (APAC), the County, the airport manager, the Owls Head Airport Advisory Committee (OHAC) and the Owls Head Select Board/Town Committee members.

MORENCI A grant recently awarded to the Stair District Library is intended to help the Morenci community overcome the loss of a local news source.
The $3,000 from the American Library Association s Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries program is for projects to keep the Morenci community up to date on information around the world and locally. Namely, the grant will help the library become a place of public knowledge due to the recent loss of the community’s weekly newspaper, the State Line Observer. The paper ceased publication at the end of 2020 due to the retirement of its longtime editor and publisher, David Green.
