The John Belushi/Dan Aykroyd Chicago valentine “The Blues Brothers” has secured its place on the new National Film Registry list of 25 films distinguished by “cultural, historic or aesthetic importance.”
Spun off from the popular “Saturday Night Live” white-man-blues act, director John Landis’ 1980 melee, featuring musical performances by Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway and Ray Charles, joins at least three other selections with Illinois roots.
