Non-Covid Certificate for Patients in Assam: The Gauhati High Court has granted two more weeks for the State government to clarify the ground reality regarding the insistence on non-COVID certificate for admission of patients into various hospitals across the State.
In a PIL (48/2020) CLP (Congress Legislature Party) leader Debabrata Saikia brought to the notice of the High Court regarding the refusal of some hospitals across the State to entertain urgent admissions of many critically ill patients due to non-production of COVID negative medical certificate.
On behalf of the petitioner, his counsel Syed Burhanur Rahman argued that a notice had been already issued to the State Government in the instant matter, but no affidavit was filed by it.

GUWAHATI: The prominent commercial areas of the city Fancy Bazar, Lakhtokia, Ganeshguri, Paltan Bazaar, and Beltola wore a deserted look on Friday due to the Vyapar bandh called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) against the new Amendment to the GST Act, and surging prices of petrol and diesel. The bandh was supported by the Kamrup Chamber of Commerce, Asom Jatiya Parishad, and the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.
