Is there a Returnal roadmap and DLC plan?
Friday, April 30, 2021
Returnal has received great praise for its gameplay, story, and replayability, but some are likely wondering if there is more coming. Plenty of games get post-launch support, after all. Here’s whether some Returnal DLC is coming alongside any sort of content roadmap.
Is there Returnal DLC coming?
We hear the community and we love you all. Nothing to announce now, but keep playing and enjoying the challenge as you can!#Returnal#PS5
Housemarque has not revealed if Returnal is getting any DLC or not. The Finnish developer has not tweeted about any potential season pass. There’s not even a content roadmap for the roguelite so it’s unclear what would even be coming down the theoretical pipeline.

Availability: Out April 30th on PS5
The history is going to be important here, if we re going to pull all of this apart. Returnal is the latest from Housemarque, the Finnish team behind masterly arcade-style shoot-em-ups like Resogun, twin-stick shooters like Dead Nation and Alienation, and the superlative Nex Machina. It s their first triple-A one though, and with big budget comes big scope. Returnal s is vast - it wants to be everything. It s a roguelite, insofar as death returns you to the start and the dungeonlike world procedurally changes with each run through it. But it s also a metroidvania, handing out new abilities after boss kills which open up new paths. And it s a third-person shooter, obviously. But also a bullet-hell arcade game. And a first-person narrative horror. And a soulslike. It picks from Ridley Scott, Eugene Jarvis, Hidetaka Miyazaki, H.R. Giger. From Metroid, P.T., Control. From Defender and Vanquish. Housemarque Releases Statement About “Very Risky” Returnal; Thanks Sony For The Opportunity and Its Support Apr 29, 2021 06:36 EDT
Ahead of tomorrow’s global launch of PS5 exclusive Returnal, Housemarque CEO and co-founder Ilari Kuittinen has released a statement about the game and its development.
Returnal releases tomorrow for PlayStation 5 (our review goes online later today), and in a new blog post on the official website of the developer, Kuittinen shared a few thoughts and also deeply thanked publisher Sony for allowing the studio to create something new and unique as Returnal.
“We have just wrapped up development and are taking a deep breath here at Housemarque”, the CEO writes. “Even though we announced that Returnal went gold a few weeks back, our team has not stopped working on the game to further balance and polish. This might probably be hard to believe if you aren’t the insider in the game development scene and haven’t been part of shipping a gam

I’m sure you’ve felt it too. For the past year and some change, life has fallen into a rut more than usual. Life is always cyclical to some degree humans are, after all, creatures of habit but the stresses that go hand-in-hand with a certain mismanaged pandemic have made the day-to-day feel more dreary and cyclical than ever.
Returnal, an action game out tomorrow for PlayStation 5, captures that sensation in a bottle.

To play
Returnal is to subject yourself to repeated lessons in failure. Every time you play, you’ll do the same thing, except slightly different, except the same, really. You might, at the end of a session, walk away with the inexorable, all-consuming notion that everything is futile, that nothing will ultimately change, and that it’s just not worth it, man.
