“Your day can go from ordinary to extraordinary in an instant. Please drive carefully,” the OPP writes in the Tweet, adding that the driver of the car was charged with careless driving.
Twitter commenters were quick to point out that the carnage occurred in the oft-combative left lane, suggesting that further driver education on proper highway-traffic-flow etiquette is required.
Hey OPP, why can t we teach people lane rules and how to use lanes on highway so this is prevented? Left lane is fast/passing, middle is also passing & the right lane is the slow lane. Too many ppl sit in the left passing lane going 100 & causes a lot of road rage & aggression. Tyler Benjamin (@blackbenji7) May 22, 2021

Local Police Departments Receive Grants to Increase Seat Belt Use
The Dartmouth Police Department and the New Bedford Police Department were both awarded grants from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security s Office of Grants and Research (OGR) to increase the number of patrols and to remind drivers and passengers about the lifesaving benefits of wearing a seat belt.
DPD and NBPD will join other departments across the state, and the Massachusetts Department of State Police in the national Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign. Seat belts are the single most important safety item in our vehicles, said Chief Brian P. Levesque of the Dartmouth Police Department. We see firsthand the devastating consequences of drivers and their passengers not buckling up. These funds will increase our traffic enforcement presence to help end these preventable tragedies.
