The student has been identified
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified Anthony J. Thompson Jr., 17, as the student who was shot and killed by police Monday at Austin-East Magnet High School.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance on a case of assault at Block 81B Toa Payoh Lorong 4 at 9.55pm.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found that the teenager had locked himself in the room of a residential unit at the block. The teenager was believed to be in possession of a knife, police added. As it was assessed that the teenager might pose a danger to himself, officers from the Crisis Negotiation Unit, Special Operations Command and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the incident.

Winnipeg police came out with a bigger fish than they were expecting to land Saturday after about an eight-hour ordeal on McGee Street. In addition to the two men they came for, police also collared a suspect in a homicide from last October who had been sought on a Canada-wide warrant.
Officers went to a residence in the 600 block of McGee near Wellington Street shortly after 11 a.m. to serve outstanding arrest warrants on a pair of 37-year-old males from Winnipeg.

WINNIPEG Three people are in custody and facing several charges after Winnipeg police executed a search warrant Saturday. Police went to a home in the 600 block of McGee Street just after 11 a.m. on Saturday to execute two warrants. When officers arrived, several people exited the home, including one man wanted on a warrant. Police learned two men were still inside and said they were being uncooperative and were believed to have firearms. Several units were called in including the Crisis Negotiation Unit to help with the situation. Police learned the two men were hiding in the attic. Around 6:40 p.m. police said one of the men surrendered, followed by the second man 10 minutes later.
