7-year-old boy killed, 3 kids among 5 others hurt in New Jersey house fire

A 7-year-old boy died in a fire that tore through a Newark townhouse, injuring five other residents including three children early Thursday morning.
The fire broke out inside the home on Astor Street at around 4:45 a.m.
Video posted on CitizenApp showed heavy flames shooting from the home.
Firefighters scrambled to get two adults and three children out of the home.
They are being treated for various injuries at University Hospital.
A 7-year-old boy, identified as Sahir Hartfield, did not make it out. His body was located on the third floor by firefighters.

The criteria used to select each woman was as follows: 1. The woman must be a resident of or work in East Orange or Orange. 2. She must use her life and platforms by way of career, volunteerism, social media, etc. to promote positivity, unity, and the uplifting of other women within one of the two municipalities and beyond.

Newark has started to vaccinate people at homeless shelters and will soon unveil a mobile plan to inoculate those who are not staying at a shelter, the city announced Wednesday.
People staying at the YMCA on Broad Street were the first to get vaccinated on Tuesday night. Nurses and practitioners will also be sent to offer vaccinations to people staying at 18 shelters across Newark, the city said in a release.

Newark Homelessness Czar Sakinah Hoyte held back tears as she unvield a lot filled with seven converted shipping containers to house 24 residents without addresses for a 90-day pilot program.
“We have been able to do what felt like the impossible in establishing a beautiful, dignified, safe sleeping village rooted in love for our most vulnerable residents,” said Hoyte on Monday as she and other officials announced the opening of the site.
