HONG KONG, April 16 (Xinhua) India and Thailand on Friday both registered record-high numbers of COVID-19 cases amid the new wave of infections regardless of the ongoing vaccination campaign in the Asia-Pacific.
India reported another fresh high of 217,353 new COVID-19 cases, as the daily spike surpassed 200,000 for the second consecutive day, taking the total tally to 14,291,917, according to the data released by the federal health ministry.

Global health Prof helping World Health Day build healthier world
EVERY year on 07 April World Health Day, which is organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), is celebrated with the main purpose of highlighting important health issues and to raise awareness about health and wellbeing whilst drawing the attention of people from around the globe.
This year’s theme ‘Building a fairer, healthier world’ aims to ensure everyone, everywhere is able to realise the right to good health. The WHO believes access to sufficient health care should not be a luxury reserved for the few and poor health is unfair and preventable and through this year’s World Health Day will raise awareness of the inequities prevalent within healthcare.
Nepal recently announced that the second phase of its coronavirus vaccination drive will begin from Wednesday, using China-made Vero Cell vaccine manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products in February this year.
Nepal has granted emergency approval to the Chinese Vero Cell vaccine, given the active caseload that stands at 277,944 on Monday, while 273,240 people have recovered in Nepal.
On March 29, a batch of the Chinese Covid-19 vaccines developed by Sinopharm was delivered to Nepal.
On Sunday, Nepal s Ministry of Health and Population made the announcement where it hinted that at least 4,00,000 people will be initially vaccinated using the Chinese drug for Covid-19.
