To help with the ongoing need for blood donations during the coronavirus pandemic, Naperville Park District plans to continue hosting donation opportunities at its Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center in partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois.
The drives are held in Community Hall on the upper level of the community center, which has plenty of space for social distancing.

The Naperville Park Board wants Gov. J.B. Pritzker to veto statewide criminal justice reforms approved by the previous Illinois General Assembly because of the effect they will have on the park district’s police officers and others across the state.
Board members unanimously approved a resolution that says the proposed legislative changes pose a “substantial danger” to the 23 part-time and two full-time park officers employed by the park district. […]
Naperville park board approves resolution urging Pritzker to veto police reform bill

The Naperville Park District board of commissioners is urging Gov. J.B. Pritzker to veto a major criminal justice reform bill, saying the legislation as it stands would directly affect park police and their ability to keep the community safe.
The board on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution denouncing the General Assembly s passage of House Bill 3653 in the final hours of a lame-duck session earlier this month. In the measure, park officials contend the legislative process was fatally flawed and lacked adequate input from law enforcement and municipal organizations statewide.

95th Street Community Plaza (Naperville Park District)
On January 28, 2021, the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) announced at its annual conference that Naperville Park District s 95th Street Community Plaza won the Outstanding Park Award for Division II, which includes Illinois park districts with operating budgets of $5 million or more. The 95th Street Community Plaza opened in summer 2020, providing a pedestrian-friendly gathering space, the District s first splash pad, a storybook-themed playground, the Wagner Family Pavilion, a lawn for activities and performance seating, restrooms and walkways.
Located at the north end of Frontier Sports Complex adjacent to the 95th Street Library, across the street from the Kathryn Birkett Freshman Center and close to the commercial area along Route 59, the new plaza made use of vacant land to provide a gateway and outdoor recreation destination for this community campus.
