If you are a cable or satellite TV subscriber, you contribute financially to Fox News, whether you like the station or not. Unplug or unbundle stations, if you wish to remove inadvertent support for the right-wing propaganda channel. Information warfare is a threat with power to destroy reason and reality, every bit a threat to our democracy as any military threat imaginable. If we, the people, push back, Rupert Murdoch, cable and satellite companies will miss support. Help reduce the divisiveness which led to the events of Jan. 6, 2021.
The FCC’s Fairness Doctrine policy (1949) required broadcasters to expose viewers to diverse viewpoints. Reagan’s FCC abolished the doctrine in 1987 and Reagan vetoed an attempt to codify the doctrine into federal law. Free speech rights guaranteed by the First Amendment on this topic have been debated repeatedly. Simple restoration of the rule of the Fairness Doctrine would not be enoug

The George Floyd verdict has given us plenty to ponder. Not just police killings and racial justice, but how we think generally. It ainât pretty.
A new survey by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst found that most Americans believe Derek Chauvinâs conviction for murdering Floyd was correct. Thatâs fine, but if you dig down a bit, youâll see that 92 percent of Democrats feel that way, while only 47 percent of Republicans do.
Our partisan pandemic is raging out of control. Fortunately, thereâs a potential cure. And itâs right here on our doorstep.
But first, the news. According to Pew Research, large numbers of Republicans and Democrats think the other side is âclosed-minded,â âunintelligentâ and âevil.â Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, faith in science has declined among Republicans, risen among Democrats.
Florida lawmakers advance bill to penalize social media companies
The bill would require social media companies to publish the standards it uses for censoring, de-platforming or blocking a user or their content, and give users 30 days before removing them from the platform.
