PETALING JAYA: A walk-in appointment for people who want the AstraZeneca vaccine? This is a suggestion made by Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on Twitter on Tuesday (April 27) evening. Perhaps we should open a walk-in for AZ vaccine. No need to wait. What do you think? (sic) he tweeted.
The Tweet was a reply to Twitter user @Hunteress197, who wrote that there is no perfect medicine as it is made by people. I ll take the risk coz I ve done it before. My current medicine had potential to damage my liver, but still I took it to slow down aggressive destruction of my lungs (sic) she tweeted.

He said the discussion was deemed necessary after taking into consideration the public anxiety about the safety and efficacy of the AstraZeneca vaccine to be used in the immunisation programme. I will hold further discussions with Dr Adham on this matter later today after taking into consideration the concerns of the people who discussed it openly on social media yesterday and some have even begun to feel afraid of getting vaccinated. I will announce (the outcome) tomorrow (Wednesday), he told reporters after vising the Vaccination Centre at Dewan Wawasan 2020 here today.

Dr Adham said the Health Ministry was convinced, after a thorough study and assessment, that the benefits of the vaccine outweigh its negatives. The AstraZeneca vaccine is safe to be used for all and it is effective. We will begin using the vaccine on those aged 60 years and above (in Phase Two of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme), said Dr Adham at a press conference here on Monday (April 26).
Dr Adham said with the addition of AstraZeneca in Malaysia s Covid-19 vaccine line-up, the country s supply issues could be resolved. We now have many candidates. We already have Pfizer and Sinovac.

SETAR: The CanSino Covid-19 vaccine has yet to be approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), to be brought in and used in the country.
Coordinating Minister for National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin said NPRA was in the midst of studying the vaccine from China before it could be approved.
“Until we get the approval from NPRA, we cannot bring in the vaccine.
“(Previously) the Sarawak government had asked for the vaccine, I told Sarawak that we wil only be able to give them the CanSino vaccine until we get the approval,” he told reporters after visiting a vaccine dispensing centre at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium, here today.
