When this is managed effectively, it yields better dividends given that over 90 per cent of the world’s trade is conducted by the sea, and this is by far, the most cost-effective way to move large quantity of goods and raw materials around the world.

NCDMB, NEXIM Bank Seal $30m Funding Deal for Oil Service Firms

Peter Uzoho The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM-Bank) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the administration of $30 million working capital fund for oil and gas service companies. The deal was signed recently in Abuja between the two government establishments. The Fund was conceived by the NCDMB to support the operations of local oil companies against the adverse effects of COVID-19 pandemic, loss of contracts due to low oil price and ensure the companies retain their personnel in employment. The working capital scheme, according to a statement, is one of the newly introduced products in the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund (NCI Fund) approved by the NCDMB Governing Council under the leadership of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.

Shall-Holma: Sealink Will Usher Competitive Shipping Regime in Africa

The Chairperson of the Sealink Implementation Committee, Mrs. Dabney Shall-Holma, has said the country must build a legacy in the maritime industry through the Nigerian Export-Import Bank funded- Sealink project which seeks to end the undue exploitation of Africans by the international shipping companies. In an exclusive interview with James Emejo, the former director of commercial shipping services at the Nigerian Shippers Council stated among other things that the project which will be launched by year-end, will boost the country’s drive to diversify the economy and create jobs as well as modernise shipping and make it more competitiveness and affordable in the region and the continent in general
