El-Rufai, NLC rift may lead to national tragedy, Sultan warns

Kaduna State Government House The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called for speedy resolution of the dispute between labour and Kaduna State Government before it degenerates. He warned that if issues that led to the industrial action embarked by the labour unions were not swiftly resolved, it might spin out of control and snowball into national tragedy of immense proportion. Abubakar made his position known in a statement by the Director of Administration, NSCIA, Zubairu Usman-Ugwu, yesterday. Noting industrial disputes as lawful means of making demands from the government, Abubabar described the rift in the state as unfortunate, inauspicious and capable of compounding the already precarious situations prevailing in the country.

In a statement signed by the party’s national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said the development is worrisome in that the sacked workers were punished for simply demanding improvement in their conditions of service.
