Former Minister of Communication, Major-General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (rtd), who is also former GOC, Third Armoured Division of Nigerian Army, Jos, has mourned the passing of Brig- General Joseph Olufemi Williams (rtd), saying the retired military officer, who fought during the Civil War, served with distinction and honour, and would be well remembered wherever truth, honour, service and devotion to one’s country were treasured.
General Olanrewaju, who is also the Trustee of Omo Eko Pataki, a pan Lagos group, said this on Sunday while paying tribute to the deceased, a pioneer member of Brigade of Guards, who died early last week at the age of 78.
It was gathered that the ongoing shake-up being carried out by the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, will affect some other top military officers at Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
Though there is no official statement on the appointment yet but a top military personnel told our correspondent that the COAS said it was expedient to reposition the information units of Nigerian Army.
Yerima, before his new appointment was at the PR unit of Defence Headquarters, Abuja. He had also served in various military formations.
He obtained a B.A. (Ed) Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University before he enrolled into the Nigerian Army in October 1989 and was commissioned into the corps of Army Public Relations.

Yerima replaces Brig.-Gen. Sagir Musa, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC), Kontagora in Niger State.
Yerima, a one-time acting director defence of information, was until his appointment, the deputy director reserve at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
According to the profile released by the Army Headquarters, Yerima is a graduate of Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University.
He enrolled into the Nigerian Army in October 1989 and was commissioned into the Corps of Army Public Relations.
He served in various military formations and units such as aide de camp to the commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) between 1990 and 1993.
