• To Be Re-Arraigned On Similar Charge On Monday, Says Lawyer
Former Special Assistant on Prosecution to President Muhammadu Buhari, Okoi Obono-Obla, and two others, were yesterday arraigned before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Apo on a 10- count charge filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
Obono-Obla, who was earlier suspended by Buhari as chairman of the disbanded Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), was arraigned alongside his Senior Assistant, Special Duties (Protocol), Aliyu Ibrahim, and Managing Director, ABR Global Petroleum Resources Limited, Daniel Omughele.
The defendants were accused of diverting N19, 994,185.00 meant for the furnishing of SPIP offices.Obono-Obla was also accused of forging his academic credentials.

Chairman of the now disbanded Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, was on Friday arraigned alongside two others before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Apo, Abuja over allegations bordering on fraud.
Obono-Obla and his co-defendants were arraigned on a 10-count charge brought against them by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
The other defendants include his (Obobo-Obla’s) Senior Assistant, Special Duties (Protocol), Aliyu Ibrahim, and the Managing Director of ABR Global Petroleum Resources Ltd, Daniel Omughele.
The ICPC specifically accused the former SPIP Chairman of conspiring with the others to divert N19,994,185.00 meant for the furnishing of SPIP offices.
The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a former Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, and two others for alleged diversion of funds belonging to the panel.
The two others are Aliyu Ibrahim, Senior Special Assistant, Special Duties (Protocol) to the Chairman (SPIP), and Daniel Omughele-Managing Director of ABR Global Petroleum Resources LTD.
Mr. Obono-Obla who pleaded not guilty to the 10-count charge preferred against him is accused of conspiring with the other defendants and also using his position to confer an unfair advantage on Aliyu Ibrahim by diverting the sum of Nineteen Million, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Four Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty-Five Naira (N19, 994, 183.00) received by SPIP from the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

Abuja, Dec. 21, 2020 The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NAIC), has urged farmers in the country to key into its various insurance policies to improve the agriculture value chain.
Mrs Folashade Joseph, the Managing Director of NDIC, made the call at a sensitisation workshop for farmers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) , Abuja on Monday.
“By so doing, the corporation will be in better position to render the necessary risk management services that will keep such farmers in business all year round and also stabilise their income.
“The corporation will pull farmers out of the mire of poverty and despondency occasioned by impact of natural hazards on their farms,’’ he said.
