Amaju Pinnick elected into FIFA Council 1 min read President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has been elected into the FIFA Council. Pinnick becomes only the second Nigerian – after Amos Adamu –to be elected into the Council of the world football governing body. He was elected during CAF’s General Assembly which took place in Morocco today. One of the biggest contenders, Andrew Kamanga of Zambia pulled out of the race two days ago to clear the path for Pinnick to swoop for his votes. In his reaction, Pinnick thanked president Muhammadu Buhari for his support, adding that his election into the exalted FIFA council is a call to serve and an opportunity to further help African football grow.

Vanguard News Pinnick, not CAF 5th Vice President NFF On Amaju Pinnick The Nigeria Football Federation has described as untrue, a report in sections of the media that the President of NFF, Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick was selected as 5th Vice President of the Confederation of African Football at Friday’s 43rd Ordinary and Elective Assembly in Rabat, Morocco. NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said the report was a sheer falsehood as such was never even discussed either on the floor of the Congress or at any meeting of the CAF leadership. “The President of NFF, Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick was elected as Member of the FIFA Council at the Congress, and that is what we are celebrating. Nobody approached him or put it up for discussion at any forum that he would be 5th Vice President.
