The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has urged women across Africa to learn from the life of a former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. NAWOJ made this disclosure while reacting to the emergence of the former Minister as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). DAILY POST gathered that Okonjo Iweala was on Monday confirmed the first woman to head the organization. Abducted NTA reporter to be released soon, Police assure

Four days after a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Port Harcourt Zonal Office, Chidiebere Onyia, was kidnapped, the state Police Command has assured that she would soon be set free. Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni, gave the assurance yesterday in a telephone chat with The Guardian while giving updates on the whereabouts of the journalist, who is a breastfeeding mother. By Udora Orizu As Nigeria joins the global community to mark this year’s World Cancer Day, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has called on civil society organizations and other stakeholders to intensify advocacies and organise more sensitization programmes, especially in rural areas, to enlighten the public on preventive measures to reduce the prevalence of cancer. NAWOJ, in a statement signed by its National President, Ladi Bala, appealed to the federal and state governments to partner national and international stakeholders to record more laudable achievements in managing cancer cases in the country, as well as commit adequate resources to reduce cancer death.

Women journalists under the umbrella of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) on Wednesday said Nigerians were waiting for positive results from the new Service Chiefs in the country. The organization made this disclosure while reacting to the appointment of new security chiefs by President Muhamadu Buhari. NAWOJ National President, Ladi Bala in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of the Service Chiefs. Bala while welcoming the resignation of the former service chiefs and the appointment of the new ones, expressed hope that the development is a move towards the total overhaul of the nation’s security architecture to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians.
