Uzodinma paid Orlu group N1bn to recall me from Senate, Okorocha alleges

Punch Newspapers Sections Chidiebube Okeoma, Owerri The Senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, has described those initiating his recall from the Senate as “political undertakers”. Okorocha, in a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Sam Onwuemeodo, in Owerri, the state capital, on Wednesday, said members of the group, Orlu Political Consecutive Assembly, were behind the recall move. Okorocha, a former governor of the state, accused his successor, Hope Uzodinma, of giving the Orlu group N1bn for his recall, adding that the governor should have used the said money to offset arrears of salaries and pensions in the state. The senator also said that his political relevance could not be watered down by the state government officials no matter how hard they tried.

FG too friendly with kidnappers ― Education stakeholders

By Adesina Wahab Critical stakeholders in the education sector have challenged the Federal Government to tackle the issue of incessant abduction of students headlong, saying the present approach by the government is like treating the matter with kid’s gloves. They also frowned at the payment of ransom to kidnappers to secure the release of abducted persons, noting that it only encourages crime and criminality. The stakeholders, who spoke with Vanguard on Tuesday were the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, and the National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN.
