Fragile industry under dwindling power supply

The sorry state of Nigeria’s electricity power supply cannot be more graphically illustrated than in the recent lamentations of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) and other stakeholders. Their faultless conclusion is that development and its indices would continue to be comatose for as long as the present hiccups subsist. In short, not only does the power situation continues to threaten the country’s political and economic stability, it again poses a strong reminder that the country’s power system remains a disaster waiting to happen, unless government summons the courage to address its problems head-on. TGI wins awards on agribusiness, others

By Fri Jun 11 2021 The Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, parent company of WACOT Rice, among others, has won the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) 2020 Employers Excellence awards. According to a statement, the Group Managing Director of TGI, Rahul Savara, won the “People First CEO Award”, while the group took the “People First Safety Award for Organisations” for its commitment to its employees and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. TGI is also the parent firm of Cormart, TGI Distri and CHI Pharmaceuticals. TGI Group also contributed nearly N2 billion to help fight COVID-19.
