Fallout: Critics warn Baraitser s decision in Assange case casts a shadow over investigative journalism -- Puppet Masters -- Sott net
© Getty The Old Bailey Courthouse A review of Judge Baraitser s 132-page judgement reveals that she considers the alleged behaviour of the WikiLeaks publisher to be akin to a co-conspirator with US Army whistleblower Chelsea Manning and not that of a proper journalist . The judge in Julian Assange s extradition hearing decided that the WikiLeaks publisher should not be extradited to the United States on the grounds that he is at high risk of suicide or self-harm on 4 January 2021. District Judge Vanessa Baraitser s reasoning was based upon the pre-trial and post-trial conditions Assange would likely be subjected to in America, namely solitary confinement and Special Administrative Measures.

Trump Will Face Different Twitter Rules When He Leaves Office
Trump Will Face Different Twitter Rules When He Leaves Office © Al Drago/Getty Images President Trump has used his Twitter account as a megaphone during his administration. When he leaves office, he will need to abide by a different set of rules. Mr. Trump is currently able to tweet with less risk, compared with private citizens, of having tweets taken down or his account suspended. Mr. Trump’s Twitter account, which has more than 88 million followers, will no longer receive special privileges when he becomes a private citizen, Twitter spokesman Nick Pacilio said. The loss of privileges reserved for world leaders and public officials would mean that if Mr. Trump violates the site’s rules, those tweets would be taken down rather than labeled in the future, Mr. Pacilio said. Mr. Trump’s tweets have been labeled by the company repeatedly both before and since the election, often with a warning that “this claim about election fraud is disputed.”
