Butters’ inclination proved correct. Forty-one years later, Krzyzewski has turned Duke into the bluest of bluebloods, with five national championships, 12 Final Four appearances and 27 ACC regular-season and conference tournament titles combined during his reign.
After the 2021-22 campaign, however, Krzyzewski’s era in Durham, North Carolina will end. The 74-year-old coach will retire following the season, according to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman. Jon Scheyer, an associate head coach at Duke, is the likely successor of the program.
Krzyzewski’s influence goes beyond the Blue Devils. He’s had 28 former players selected as NBA lottery picks, and he led the U.S. men’s national team to three Olympic gold medals as head coach 2008, 2012 and 2016.
Former PFW coach Fife to be IU assistant

New Indiana coach Mike Woodson continued filling out his coaching staff this afternoon with the addition of Michigan State associate head coach and former PFW head coach Dane Fife to the program.
“Dane is someone who I have always had the utmost respect for,” Woodson said in a statement. “His knowledge of the Big Ten and his success as a recruiter will be an invaluable asset as we look to continue building a staff that will help elevate this program to the highest levels. I know his love for the for the Hoosiers and this University comes across the moment you talk to him and we are excited to welcome back Dane, his wife Blair, and daughters Quinnly and Reagan back to Bloomington.”

For 40 years, Coach Mike Krzyzewski has been pacing the court of Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Duke Blue Devils legend has won Naismith College Coach of the Year three times and has coached the Blue Devils to a national championship five times in his tenure, so surely we should be listening to him. Right?
On Thursday, Coach K made headlines across the country after he publicly stated that Duke would be cancelling their remaining nonconference basketball games. We re doing the right thing for our players, just for safety, we re not going to play any [remaining] nonconference games, Krzyzewski said.
