SEATTLE (AP) Bill and Melinda Gates said Monday that they are divorcing.
The Microsoft co-founder and his wife said they would continue to work together at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest private charitable foundation.
In identical tweets, they said they had made the decision to end their marriage of 27 years.
“We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” they said in a statement. “We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

After 27 years of Marriage, Microsoft Founder and former CEO, Bill Gates and wife, Melinda, are ending their marriage.
Bill announced the decision today on his Twitter account, that after a great deal of thought and work the two will be ending their longtime marriage.
Not only were the two married, they founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Their foundation has worked for years to help provide food and health services to millions.
Bill Gates was the richest man in the world for quite a few years, but in recent years was dethroned of that title by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Bill is now 3rd on the list after Bezos, and Tesla Founder, Elon Musk, with an estimated net worth of $131 Billion.

Bill Gates on Monday said he and wife Melinda are splitting up. After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage, the Microsoft cofounder shared on Twitter. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. The eldest daughter of Bill and Melinda Gates shared a message with her followers on Monday, shortly after her parents announced they were calling it quits after 27 years of marriage. By now, many of you have heard the news that my parents are separating, Jennifer, 25, wrote in a post she shared to her Instagram story. It s been a challenging stretch of time for our whole family. I m still learning how to best support my own process and emotions as well as family members at this time, and I am grateful for the space to do so, she continued.
