In the APA 2020 (Applications in Pre-Defined Areas) licensing round, Europe’s leading independent gas and oil company secured access to five areas in the North Sea, nine in the Norwegian Sea, and two in the Barents Sea. The number of awards from the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy is almost double the nine licenses secured last year and reflects the commitment the globally active company is making in Norway.

Norway: Petrolia NOCO awarded 3 licenses in APA 2020 19 Jan 2021 Petrolia NOCO has been awarded three licenses by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. The licenses (PL 1106 20% , PL 1107 30%) are located in the northern North Sea and one operated license ( PL 1013 B 60%) in the Norwegian Sea. The addition of these licenses to Petrolia NOCO’s portfolio means that it continues to deliver on its near field exploration strategy. The award strengthens the Company’s position in its core area of the Tampen Hub, where it holds 20% in the Dugong discovery (PL 882) and 30% share in the adjacent PL 992 and PL 994 licenses. More exploration drilling is planned in the Tampen area in 2021, including the Dugong Tail exploration well and Dugong Appraisal well. Norway: Pandion Energy acquires license interests from Wintershall DEA 04 Jan 2021 Wintershall DEA Norge to acquire a 2.5 percent interest in PL 820 S and a 15 percent interest in PL 617. Through this transaction, Pandion Energy increases its interest in PL 820 S to 12.5 percent. In March, Pandion Energy announced the results from exploration drilling in PL 820 S. Wells 25/8-19 S and 25/8-19 A proved hydrocarbons at five different intervals with the Iving discovery in the Skagerrak Formation being the most prominent with recoverable resources estimated to between 12 and 71 million barrels of oil equivalent. The operator, MOL Norge AS (40 percent), is together with partners Lundin Energy Norway AS (40 percent), Pandion Energy (10 percent before acquisition) and Wintershall DEA (10 percent before sale) planning an appraisal campaign in 2021. The license is located in blocks 25/7 & 8, north-northwest of the Balder and Ringhorne fields.
