It is only a matter of time before it replaces the Alpha variant, which was first identified in the UK, as the dominant virus mutation in Norway, according to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH). Almost 250 of the 353 confirmed cases of the Delta variant had been recorded in the last four weeks. However, Line Vold, a director at the NIPH, told newspaper VG that it has not yet become the dominant variant in Norway despite the sharp rise in Delta cases.
