Nassau County Executive Laura Curran was joined by leaders of the Countyâs Department of Public Works (DPW) to mark the completion of 2020âs robust road resurfacing season which continued despite fiscal restraints caused by the . The County surpassed its 2020 goal of 150 lanes miles, completing 172 lane miles as of today, utilizing $33 million from the County’s capital plan. This comes following 2019’s record-breaking roadway improvements, including resurfacing an unprecedented 207 lane miles of County road, tripling the amount repaved in 2017. Despite, the continued financial devastation the County faces from the impact of the pandemic, Curran commits to continuing ambitious paving plans in 2021 by restoring another 150 lane miles. 2021’s strategy includes an investment of $35 million from the County’s capital plan for five roadway resurfacing contracts.
