Govt urged to check prices of edibles

LAHORE: The working class has demanded from the federal and provincial governments to check price-hike in Ramazan and bring the hoarders and profiteers to book. They stressed on the need to contain prices of edibles and essential commodities.
These demands were raised in a meeting held under the aegis of All-Pakistan Workers Confederation (APWC) on Saturday at Bakhtiar Labour Hall in which a large number of workers and affiliated trade union representatives participated. General Secretary of APWC Khurshid Ahmed, Rubina Jamil, Akbar Ali Khan, Ch M Anwar, Osama Tariq, Salahuddin Ayubi, Khushi M Khokhar, Niaz Khan and other representatives of the confederation spoke on the occasion.

LAHORE: Workers have condemned the brutal murder of 11 Hazara miners in Balochistan and demanded the prime minister ensure safe living conditions for the Hazara community of the province.
According to a press release, the workers also reminded the federal and provincial governments that it was the state’s constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and dignity of Hazara miners, bring to book the accused and hand out exemplary punishment, and extend all legal, moral and financial support to the families of the murdered workers.
These demands were made in a resolution passed on Wednesday in a meeting of the All Pakistan Workers Confederation held at the Bakhtiar Labour Hall where the participants urged the prime minister to visit Balochistan to listen to the voices and sufferings of the Hazara community.
