traitor.
The JUI-F chief said that the government has asked him to surrender before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) . My ancestors have never bowed before anyone. Our struggle is for the sake of democracy and the implementation of law in the country, Fazlur Rehman said while addressing a public gathering here at the Ziad Durrani Sports Complex.
Condemning the recent killings of the coalminers in Balochistan, Fazlur Rehman questioned the claims of the government about the restoration of peace. The JUI-F leader maintained that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government caused colossal damage to the country’s economy. “The growth of the economy has gone down below zero percent,” he maintained.

ISLAMABAD: Tension ruled the Senate on the first day of year 2021 with senators from the two sides of the aisle locking horns over the issue of performance of the anti-corruption watchdog and process of accountability.
During a debate on the performance of the National Accountability bureau (NAB), the opposition members rejected the process of accountability as one-sided and accused the government of using it for witch-hunt of its opponents. Members from the treasury benches responded by saying the opposition was trying to exert pressure on the government to force it to stop pursuing corruption cases against its leaders, who had amassed wealth through commissions and kickbacks, laundered money and stashed it in banks abroad.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate opposition Friday termed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) where no law applied, while the treasury asserted the opposition would not get NRO for their ill-gotten wealth come what may.
The opposition-requisitioned session’s first sitting was confined to paying tribute to late Senator Kalsoom Parveen.
Opposition Leader Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq presented the agenda and also opened the debate.
Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani presided over the eventful session.
The House witnessed a heated debate on the arrest of PML-N leader Khawaja Asif.
Safdar s arrest, leave applications and an army probe
While cases against opposition politicians have riled up their leadership, it was the arrest of PML-N leader retired Captain Mohammad Safdar, who is also the husband of Maryam Nawaz, in Karachi that became a tipping point.
In October, Safdar was arrested for by police from the hotel he was staying in a day after a massive PDM public gathering was held in Karachi, which was addressed by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz among other leaders.
Hours before the gathering, Safdar and Maryam along with their supporters visited Jinnah s mausoleum where the former raised political slogans. The act was criticised by PTI supporters as well as some government officials, who deemed it as disrespectful. It was because of this that a case was registered against Safdar which later resulted in his arrest from the hotel a day later.
