JU suspends 11 students over ragging incident

Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have suspended 10 students from all academic activities for a year and another for two years after they were found guilty of ragging a first-year student and beating him till he lost consciousness.
The university syndicate had made the decision on January 9 at a virtual meeting after an investigation committee recommended their suspension over the incident, said an office order today.
The students were also expelled from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall as they were staying there as non-allotted residents, said the release.

RAJSHAHI, Dec 24, 2020 (BSS) – Eleven new ten-storey buildings are going to be constructed on the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) campus aimed at further developing the campus area to provide improved facilities for the teachers, researchers, students and others concerned.
The present government has recently approved a mega project involving Taka 599.30 crore for construction of necessary physical infrastructures and equipment installation for quality improvement of education and research in RUET. Earlier, the allocation was Taka 340.13 crore for the project.
The high-rise buildings will be constructed simultaneously under the project jointly being implemented by University Grants Commission and RUET initiated by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Education.
