Ansar win gold in women’s handball 127 DHAKA, April 8, 2021 (BSS)- Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence party won gold in the women’s handball of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games beating Bangladesh Police by 42-20 goals in the final held today at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium. The winners’ led the first half by 22-7 goals. In the day’s match, Khadija Akter was the highest scorer with eight goals for Ansar while Rubina Begum netted ten goals for Police. Besides, Naogaon District Sports Association (DSA) secured the bronze medal in this event defeating Jamalpur DSA by 26-16 goals in the place-deciding match held at the same venue.

Sylhet, Army reach last four in men’s football 71 DHAKA, Apr 5, 2021 (BSS)-Sylhet district football team and Bangladesh Army reached the semifinal from Group A of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games men’s football event held today at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla. The semifinals of the event will be held tomorrow with Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan facing Bangladesh Army in the first semifinal at 1 pm while Sylhet district football team meet Satkhira district football team in the second semis at 3 pm at the same venue. In the day’s only match, Sylhet district beat Bangladesh Army by 2-1 goals to emerge the group A champions. Bangladesh Army finished group A runners-up with the day’s defeat.

Apart from Jewel, Bangladesh Navy s Mohammad Mahmudunnobi Nahid set the new national record clocking 00:56.71 second to win the 100m butterfly men s event after eclipsing his own previous record by 00:56.82 second set in 2019.

The second phase of the premier league and championship league, women s football league and third division league are temporarily postponed until April 11.
