1st ship anchored at Matarbari deep sea port 292 CHATTOGRAM, Dec 29, 2020 (BSS) – The Panama flag carrying ship ‘MV Venus Triumph’ anchored successfully at Matarbari deep sea port in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar today for the first time. The ship led by two senior pilots of Chattogram port was brought to the jetty with the help of a powerful tugboat ‘Kandari-8’ at 10:30 am on Tuesday. Earlier, the ship anchored at the outer anchorage of Chattogram port from Indonesia around 5:30 am today. Chattogram Port Authority Assistant Harbor Master Captain Ataul Hakim Siddiqui confirmed the matter to BSS. He said that the ship was able to anchor directly at the jetty without having to wait for the tide due to the high draft of the Matarbari deep seaport channel.

Nearly half the state-run entities running at a loss

The seven loss-incurring companies deal with producing sugar, motorcycles, hotel services, cables and glass sheets. A big number of government run companies are not giving any dividends for many years so the stocks are providing nothing to their investors, said stock investor Abdul Alim. Renwick Jajneswar and Usmania Glass did not provide any dividend for the last two years.
