Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said a vested quarter was trying to fish in troubled waters over the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed.
“Death of Mushtaq Ahmed is under investigation, but a vested quarter is trying to catch fish in troubled water over the issue,” he said.
Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, made the remark while addressing an inaugural function of ‘service week’ of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The AL spokesperson joined the function virtually from his official residence
on parliament premises in the capital.
The minister came up with the remark as a free-thinker and writer Mustaq, who had been locked up under the controversial Digital Security Act for over nine months, died on Friday at the Kashimpur jail in Gazipur.
