Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader urged all to stand by people from their respective positions amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
He came up with the call while exchanging views with officials of Cumilla Road Zone of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) through videoconferencing from his official residence.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the only politics is now to stop this horrific spread of coronavirus and protect the country’s people from the invisible enemy.
He said protecting lives is more priority than livelihood and that is why everyone should follow health guidelines to remain safe from the virus.

DHAKA, April 24, 2021 (BSS)- Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said that the government is considering resuming the public transports on conditions and maintaining health guidelines in public interest amid the ongoing lockdown over COVID-19 pandemic.
He said this while speaking at a virtual view exchange meeting with officials of Barishal Road Zone of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) from his official residence here.
Urging all to maintain hygiene rules even if the lockdown is relaxed, Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said : “The use of masks and hand sanitizer should be made mandatory. Besides, those who will take more than the fixed fare after leaving half the seats vacant in public transports will be penalized.”

The first set of metro train is being transported to the metro rail depot in Dhaka s Diabari area since this morning.
The process to unload the coaches of the train from the barges started around 8:00am, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today.
The minister was holding a views-exchange meeting with the staff of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation and Roads and Highways Department (Gopalganj zone). He joined the meeting virtually from his residence.

Three coaches, out of six of the first set of metro trains, have been shifted to the metro rail depot in Dhaka s Diabari yesterday.
The next three coaches are expected to be shifted today, ABM Arifur Rahman, a project manager of Mass Rapid Transit Line or MRT-6, told The Daily Star. They [coaches] were kept inside the workshop s inspection area. Apart from the individual test of the coaches, integrated test would be carried out, he added.
