Dhaka, June 9 : The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh will question 50 leaders of radical outfit Hefazat-e-Islam, including its top leaders Junaid Babunagari and Mamunul Haque on charges of embezzlement of funds and corruption.
The Hefazat leaders will be questioned after receiving the relevant information, ACC Secretary Md Anwar Hossain Howlader told IANS on Wednesday evening.
Howlader said the fourth meeting of the ACC was held on Wednesday, wherein seven issues were discussed.
The decision to investigate the embezzlement and corruption charges was taken by the ACC after detectives of the Commission and the officials of Bangladesh Bank, the central bank of the country, found truth in the allegations.

Our undertaking of these agreements with the Financial Reporting Center (FRC) of Somalia and the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) further reinstate our efforts to facilitate a robust exchange of knowledge and expertise in the areas of anti-money laundering and combating financing of terrorism, alongside leading international intelligence units,” said Ali Faisal Ba’Alawi, Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit for the UAE.

The High Court today asked Bangladesh Krishi Bank for documents on its decision to waive interest of around Tk 48 crore for Chattogram s BNP leader and businessman Abbas Ali.
In response to a writ petition, the court ordered chairman and managing director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank to produce the documents before it in four weeks for the court to examine them.
The HC also questioned the legality of the decision taken by the bank s board of directors for waiving the interest of around Tk 48 crore for Abbas Ali, proprietor of Abbas Trading Corporation.
