The disease denotes a horrifying sight in each and every person as most people perceive cancer means death. Cancer occurs in people of all ages and can affect any part of the body while the disease is a leading cause of death for children and adolescents worldwide. Physicians say it is also important to know that cancer as a disease mostly affects the senior population, higher life expectancy means higher cancer rates. It is afflicting that the number of cancer patients has been increasing day by day due to food habit, bad lifestyle and negative impact of industrialization and technology.

Turkey farming drops as demand crashes

Mizanur Rahman sometimes takes a look at some photographs on his mobile phone. Those are a bit old, taken about a year ago. After a while, he stops looking at them with a deep sigh. These pictures reminded him of his dream of making it big in turkey farming. Watching inspiring stories of turkey farming on YouTube, Rahman bought 50 American variety of turkey chicks for Tk 60,000 in early 2019. Within six months, they weighed around five kilogrammes (kg). The farmer in South Jhawgara village in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur made a good profit by selling them between Tk 500 and Tk 600 per kg.

Potatoes produced by BADC s contract growers going abroad

Potatoes produced by contract growers of the Bangladesh Agricultural Corporation (BADC) are now being exported to Malaysia, a development that is likely to encourage farmers to improve the quality of their produce in order to reap fair prices.  Under the supervision of BADC, the first consignment of 28 tonnes of the diamond potato variety was sent to Malaysia on March 30.
