Left-arm spinner George Dockrell chose not to accompany Ireland Wolves in their upcoming Bangladesh tour alongside head coach Pete Johnston, Ireland Cricket confirmed on Tuesday.
Dockrell was initially selected in the Ireland Wolves travelling party for their forthcoming tour to Bangladesh where they will play a multi-format eight-match series against Bangladesh Emerging Team.
“We completely respect the decision of George not to opt in, and fully understand Pete’s decisions based around family circumstances,” said Andrew White, chairman of Ireland national men’s selectors.
“The playing and coaching group have been busy preparing for the trip in line with COVID protocols, and we look forward to a competitive month of cricket ahead.”

Ireland Wolves leg-spinner Ben White is looking forward to his first tour with the team and sees his selection as vindication for his hard work over recent years.
The tour is scheduled from February 17 to March 19 and will see the Wolves play a multi-format eight-match series against Bangladesh Emerging Team.
“I was over the moon to get the call from the Chair of Selectors, and am very grateful to be given the opportunity to represent my country again after being fortunate enough to play Under-19s a few years ago,’’ said White on Monday.
