Tiasha Idrak Tiasha Idrak Today marks the 160th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the polymath who reshaped Bengali music and literature. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised an online programme to celebrate the day. As the country enforced restrictions on public movement to curb Covid-19 transmission, BSA opted to pay a tribute to the poet virtually, just as the year before. The virtual event was hosted by singer Tapan Mahmud, and inaugurated by M Badrul Arefin, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. It was presided by Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of BSA.

Imtiaj Rasel in the running for Sovereign Asian Art Prize UNB 27th April, 2021 12:50:05 Bangladeshi artist Imtiaj Rasel is in the running for a prestigious art prize in Asia. He is, in fact, among 30 artists from the Asia-Pacific region who have been nominated for this year s Sovereign Asian Art Prize. With his artwork, ‘Journey by Bus’, being shortlisted, Rasel is now competing with artists from India, Australia, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Japan, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and host Hong Kong for the prize. Rasel holds an MFA degree in painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (2019). He went to Kolkata for higher studies after completing a bachelor s degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Art at the University of Dhaka in 2015.

Actor SM Mohsin, who graced television for decades, dies of COVID

  Glitz Correspondent,  bdnews24.com Ekushey Padak-winning actor SM Mohsin has died of the COVID-19 illness. ); } He passed away at 9:30 am on Sunday while receiving treatment at Dhaka’s BIRDEM Hospital, his younger son Rashek Mohsin said. “The coronavirus infection damaged my father’s lungs,” he said. “He was taken to the ICU when his condition deteriorated.” The venerable actor had, at first, been admitted to Dhaka’s Holy Family hospital after he tested positive for the coronavirus. SM Mohsin was then transferred to Impulse Hospital when his condition deteriorated. He was brought to BIRDEM about a week ago. Mohsin had graced Bangladesh’s televisions and the stage for over four decades.
