Yearlong Investigation Ends in Prosecution of 23 Sweetwater County Residents

SWEETWATER COUNTY As a result of this nearly yearlong investigation, and the following court proceedings, the Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office, with the assistance from local law enforcement, successfully disrupted, dismantled and prosecuted 23 Sweetwater County local, drug users and distributers, residing in Green River and Rock Springs, Wyoming. In addition, four out-of-state suppliers of heroin and methamphetamine, were identified, charged and prosecuted for their roles in supplying large quantities of controlled substances into the Sweetwater County area. Furthermore, the identification and disruption of this Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO), not only impacted the communities resting in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, it positively impacted areas in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Phoenix, Arizona.

Grinch steals from Mission at Castle Rock

Green River Star -   December 23, 2020 A week before Christmas, Mission at Castle Rock in Green River was burglarized, with gifts directed to the residents either damaged or stolen from the facility’s Angel Tree. “It was really disheartening . I don’t know who would have done that,” Kari Facinelli, Mission at Castle Rock’s marketing specialist said. According to Det. Cpl. Karl Bode of the Green River Police Department, the theft occurred between the afternoon of Dec. 16 and the morning of Dec. 17. As of press time Bode said he wasn’t sure of how much was stolen and damaged in the theft.

Police Are Investigating Counterfeit Bills Circulating in Green River

GREEN RIVER The Green River Police Department (GRPD) is currently investigating recent reports of counterfeit bills. “We have had recent reports of counterfeit bills being passed as real money in our area. Bills reported are $10 bills and $5 bills,” a Facebook post from the GRPD states. From a first glance, the bills look legit but may fail the pen test; and some have paint or scribbles on them covering what appears to be a PROP or COPY stamp, according to the GRPD. Angel Tree Gifts Ransacked at Mission at Castle Rock

UPDATE As of 1 pm Friday, Mission at Castle Rock already received enough monetary donations to cover the cost of the presents. They issued the below statement on their Facebook page. GREEN RIVER Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center has confirmed that they were recently burglarized and their residents’ Christmas presents were stolen and destroyed. “As many of you may have heard, it is true, Mission at Castle Rock was recently burglarized. Our residents’ Christmas presents were ransacked. As you can only imagine this is devastating to the staff and residents here at Mission,” they wrote on their Facebook page. Green River Star - Gregory Scott Cable Gregory Scott Cable, 54, of Green River, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, December 6, 2020 of a heart attack while fishing on the Green River. He was born January 31, 1966 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, the son of Lloyd Gerald Cable and Cecelia Rose Aitken. Greg attended schools in Seattle, Denver, Jackson, Wyo. and Green River. He was a longtime employee of Quality Builders in Green River and helped construct many homes and businesses in Sweetwater County and other areas. He possessed a stunning array of skills and could build, repair or improve almost anything structural or mechanic.
