May 18 primary will bump one candidate from New Sewickley supervisor race

NEW SEWICKLEY TWP. Three candidates are running for two six-year terms as supervisors for the township in the May 18 primary.  Incumbent Fritz Retsch will battle interim Supervisor Charles Mike Phipps and newcomer Jenny Dambach Fessler for the Republican nominations, while Democrats have no candidate on the ballot in the race.  Retsch, 81, has lived in New Sewickley Township for 12 years. A retired school teacher, he taught at the Ambridge Area School District for 40 years and is now an active member of the community, sitting on several area boards for the Community College of Beaver County, the CCBC Foundation, Old Economy Village, Big Knob Grange and California University of Pennsylvania. A husband and pet owner, Retsch has served nearly six years as a supervisor and contributed to the acquisition of $9.1 million in grants, building the amphitheater in Green Valley Park and technical upgrades to the township offices and police department.
