No scarcity of funds in province, says Dr Yasmin Rashid Lahore April 21, 2021 LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid directed the officials concerned to expedite the pace of work at Mother and Child Hospitals and other development projects. Addressing a meeting at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department here Tuesday, she said despite corona restrictions Punjab was continuously improving healthcare services. She cleared that there was no scarcity of funds in the province. The health minister reviewed the pace and progress of construction work of Mother and Child Hospitals, upgradation of BHUs to round-the-clock model and various other projects in the province. Addressing the meeting, she said that under the Prime Minister Health Initiative, revamping of health facilities was underway in eight districts of the province. She said that all development projects needed to be completed within deadline with transparency.

Vaccination to people of 50-59 years age starts today

27,323 elderly citizens vaccinated on first of Ramazan, says Yasmin Rashid National April 16, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said on Thursday that corona vaccination was administered to 27,323 elderly citizens on the first Ramazan as extra hours have been added in the form of two shifts. The minister said that in the morning shift 15,130 people and in evening shift 12,193 people were inoculated. She said the vaccination process for elderly citizens was going on at full pace. The health minister said, “So far Punjab has administered first dose of vaccine to more than 136,000 healthcare workers and second dose to over 83,000 people. Similarly, Punjab has administered first dose of vaccine to more than 390,000 and second dose to over 90,000 elderly citizens. Overall, Punjab has vaccinated more than 750,000 people.

LAHORE: Covid-19 claimed lives of 68 more patients in Punjab during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 7,209. The province also reported 2,870 more new infections during the same period. The situation was said to be much disturbing in Lahore where the virus is spreading fast. According to the official figures of Thursday, the provincial capital recorded 1,726 new positive cases during the last 24 hours, the highest one reported in a day since June. Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said vaccination had been administered to 27,323 elderly citizens on the first day of Ramazan as extra hours had been added in the form of two shifts. She said that in the morning shift 151,30 people and in evening shift 12,193 citizens were inoculated. The health minister added that the vaccination process of elderly citizens was going on at full pace.
